Guilt

Why is it every single thing, even remotely sexual, brings me guilt. Its not a healthy trend, in fact not at all a healthy trend.

Heard of Catholic guilt? No? Ireland is full of people who feel thus.

hey!, this is the first time I have visited your blog and I must say, the topic that you chose to blog about is interesting.
Talking about guilt associated to talking or thinking about sex, well that has a very early origin.
The main that would make a normal psychology ( I prefer using ‘psychology’ over ‘person’) feel guilty over something is :

    >>>>when someone you admire or love a lot tells you not to do something, but you do it anyway….. you feel guilty of betraying his/her trust on you. Now you would ask what do I mean by “trust”?…. well, it goes like this… when you like or admire someone, you want to be “approved” by that person, as in, you want to KNOW that that person (say Mr. X) thinks that you are “good”… so, when Mr. X tells you not do something, your mind unconciously associates it in such a manner that, you being to think Mr. X likes you or approves you of being good because you are not doing the thing that he doesnt want you to do……………
So, when you betray his “trust”, to your mind, you have lost one person who “approves” you of being good…. and this is how your internal insecurities jump into picture because as a social psychology, you always want to be approved by someone to be a good fit into the society.
All this happens because you do not believe in yourself. Had you believed in your actions, you would not need to be approved by some Mr X at the first place.
So, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, tell yourself that there is nothing wrong in thinking about something so pure as sex. Only then will you be able to overcome the guilt.
